The ladies working a high-intensity drill that develops awareness of multiple attackers, improves mobility, and reduces tunnel-vision on a single attacker
On 11 September 2011, A.I.M. Academy Instructors, Kacey Chong and Robert Halaijian, taught a full-day Women’s Self-Defence Course.
We were joined by a fantastic group of women, from those who had no previous self-defence training to experienced martial artists with senior Black Belt ranks, some driving almost 3 hours from regional Victoria to participate in the day.
This Women’s Self-Defence Course was an interactive & empowering event that covered the following topics, and much more…
Hear what the ladies are saying about this Women’s Self-Defence Course:
“Realistic, simple & easy to follow for those without martial arts experience.
This Self-Defence education and training would be essential to many of my work colleagues, where we are exposed to individuals in emotional distress.”
– Kathryn Sceaney, Nurse
“This Women’s Self-Defence Course was well worth the money. Very practical & easy to follow everything through.”
– Helena Davis
“Super important for all women to learn the basics taught in this Women’s Self-Defence Course.
It could mean life or death.”
– Christine Burgin
” My favourite part of this Women’s Self-Defence Course was the knife attack drills. The most important thing I took from this course is to pick your battles, as the consequences may not be worth the fight. I think its worth all women gaining some awareness of self-defence training.
Another great seminar from Rob & Kacey! I always walk away with lots of information and food for thought. Thanks again, guys!”
– Joanne Bell
“Loved it! Kacey & Rob deliver a fantastic course. Simple yet effective for all ages.
Great stuff guys! Would love to do any others that may carry on from this one.”
– Tania Rowan, Ultimate Functional Fitness

A.I.M. Academy Senior Instructor, Kacey Chong, discusses the personal safety concerns with the group
“The reality-based practical application was my favourite part of the course.
Every girl and woman should do this Women’s Self-Defence Course at least once and simply because it’s not in our modern feminine culture to know how to defend ourselves physically.
I can’t wait to do more!”
– Pixie Trangas
“The important things I learnt from this Women’s Self-Defence Workshop are to appear assertive (non-target), and to have a mission.
It was really practical, with not just moves, but all-round advice and focus on the first few seconds and response.
Fantastic course with lots of helpful info that I can start thinking about right away!”
– Charity Jenkins
“I learnt a lot from today’s Women’s Self-Defence Course and would definitely recommend all women to go.”
– Samantha Susa
“This Women’s Self-Defence Course has given me confidence to be prepared, and how to react & deal with danger.”
– Chanh Kien
“A valuable and fun course! I feel a lot more secure now that I have the knowledge and physical skills to defend myself. Thanks! :)”
– Tina Kien
“Before coming to the Women’s Self-Defence Course, I didn’t have confidence with defending myself in the case of an attack.
I learnt basic techniques and mentality of an attacker that allowed me to feel empowered!”
– Mui D.
