Strength & conditioning is an important part of martial arts training at A.I.M. Academy.
Kettlebells are an excellent tool for strength & conditioning, and are a perfect complement for martial arts training & performance.
Kettlebell training will be gradually introduced at the A.I.M. Academy in the coming months, within our Martial Fitness classes, as part of our fighters training, and also to help prepare our Tough Mudders for the Tough Mudder event in September.
This Beginner Kettlebell Workshop will teach you how to train safely, with good technique, so you can stay free of injury. Good technique will also allow you to increase the intensity and weights you work with, and therefore, your overall strength gains.
The Beginner Kettlebell Workshop will follow the Dragon Door ‘Hardstyle’ system of kettlebell training, and will be taught by A.I.M. Academy HKC* Instructor, Kacey Chong.
The workshop will cover:
- Hip Hinge
- Hardstyle Breathing
- Pendulum Swing
- Two-Hand Swing
- Singe-Arm Swing
- Alternating Swing
- Goblet Squat
- And much more…
Next month, we will run a follow-up Beginner Kettlebell Workshop II, which will cover the Get Up, RKC Arm Bar, and more…
* HKC = Hardstyle Kettlebell Certification (certified by Andrew Read of Dragon Door Australia)
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This Beginner Kettlebell Workshop is suitable for:
- A.I.M. Academy Members who currently train in our Martial Fitness, Boxing, Kickboxing/Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) classes
- A.I.M. Academy Fighters
- A.I.M. Academy Tough Mudders
- Anyone else (including general public) starting out with kettlebells who wants to train safely, improve their technique, and be able to increase the weights they’re working with.
All welcome! No experience necessary!
Attending a Beginner Kettlebell Workshop is essential for anyone participating in our Martial Fitness classes, as well as A.I.M. Academy fighters.
Members who have not completed the Beginner Kettlebell Workshop will be limited to using the very light kettlebells and will not be permitted to use heavier weights until they complete a Beginner Kettlebell Workshop.
Alternatively, those who cannot make it to this Workshop can opt to do Personal Training sessions with A.I.M. Academy HKC Instructor, Kacey Chong.
